“Who’s the boss”

We started a new series of posts by travel couples, to determine who does what when it comes to travel organisation. In fairness we put ourselves up first and showed the form that we asked each travel couple to complete to determine “Who’s the boss?” I think that people were of mixed opinion as to who “is” the boss at Contented Traveller. I myself thought it was pretty clear cut. Then we put David and Veronica from GypsyNesters to the test, which you can read about. Again the jury seemed to be out here. Now it is 1000Fights turn. This week we find out,
“Who’s the boss” at 1000 Places to Fight before you die?
Mike and Luci are the Fighting Couple of 1000 Places to Fight Before You Die. Their couple travel blog focuses on couple travel destinations and a dash of relationship advice. Yes, they do fight…..alot! Mike and Luci say that “We love to travel and yes…. we do fight. Fighting can be a good thing. If you fight fair. The act of fighting is simply two people, with two passionate points of view. What is wrong with that? We started this blog to offer couple travel ideas and a little bit of relationship stuff mixed in. We truly hope you enjoy.”
So, “Who’s the boss?” at 1000 Fights?
Luci and Mike take “We take one big trip a year and we trade off each year picking the spot.” Their work schedules dictate when they can go…. Mike takes care of flights while Luci is the master of scoring passes into the airport lounges. Neither really “use layovers like they should”, so no credit can be given to either. We asked them who was responsible for organizing getting to the airport and they said “Neither! We usually bum a ride from our friends. Thank goodness for friends!” Mike says “We plan our trips out a year in advance, so there is loads of research that goes into the trips.” Apprently Mike is exceptionally adept at spread sheets and uses this for accommodation and also for transport with and between countries, places. “Luci is a packing magician” and also takes care of the locks on the cases etc. They both look after their own travel documentation. Luci says that “Mike loves to get a bunch of the new currency…” so he takes care of all foreign currency. When we asked them who cleans the house before they go away, the response was ““What is the cleaning you speak of? asked Mike”. Luci is the boss when it comes to letting the banks and posts office, and the families know where they are going. She also takes care of the bills and organizing payments for anything as required. With regard to anything related to technology, Luci says “Mike loves this stuff!” so he takes of that. We then asked 1000fights who is the boss when it comes to activities, emails and correspondence to places where we are going and Luci said “See Mike’s down to the minute spreadsheet….”
