Baozi Traditional Chinese Breakfast by Agness of e-tramping

Have you heard of a very common saying that “the Chinese eat everything with four legs except tables—and everything that flies except airplanes”? Although it’s so true, you should not be afraid of trying Baozi which are served as a traditional Chinese breakfast on the cheap.
Baozi are steamed or fried dumplings stuffed with pork, beef and vegetables, and in addition provides a variety of Asian sauces such as soy-based sauce, chilli, vinegar and sesame oil. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you can order baozi filled with veggies such as cabbage, onion and shredded carrots or fruit jam (my favourite one is strawberry and blueberry).
Where to find Baozi Traditional Chinese Breakfast
Baozi can be found at every food vendor between 6 am and 11 am. They usually have the same size, but the taste is different. Although they are oily and super caloric, you must have one or two when visiting China. Make sure they are hot when served -cold aren’t as tasty. You should not pay more than RMB0,5 – RMB1 ($0.8 – $0.16) for one big Baozi and you can feel stuffed after having 1-2 (female traveller) and 3-4 (male traveller).
Hope you have enjoyed baozi traditional Chinese breakfast
Baozis are like little mouth adventures, especially if you do not have the language to describe the meats and veggies you want in yours, through trial and error, you will discover your own personal baozi love.
I agree, they are mouth adventures. What a wonderful way of describing baozis
I love a baozi…so delicious! I would love to learn how to make them.
Me too, they look so good.
Thank you for having me here. I’m leaving China next month so I’ll make sure to eat as many baozi as possible because I won’t have this opportunity when I’m back in Europe.
Thank you Agness for this lovely post that made us all very hungry. Our photos as always are so enticing.
