“Who’s the boss?” – travel couples tell you how they organise their travels.

Continuing our series of posts by travel couples, to determine who does what when it comes to travel organisation, today we find out

“Who’s the boss” at Besudu Abroad?

Originally from Chicago, Beth got her first true taste of travel when she studied abroad in Japan during her final year of university. She ended up loving Asia so much, she found herself moving right back upon graduation and is currently living in Hong Kong. Armed with her camera and a passion for travel, she is on a mission to photograph the world– proving that you can work the normal “9-5” and still find time to travel.

So, “Who’s the boss?” at Besudesu  Abroad?

Beth generally selects the destination, although Johnny certainly voices his opinion about it! In deciding when they travel both Beth and Johnny “need to organize this as currently our jobs determine when we are able to travel”?

Beth says that with plane flights “I usually just look for whatever is cheapest and most convenient time-wise and book it before it’s gone!” Johnny says, “We never bother with airport lounges”.

Both Beth and Johnny “rarely plan stopovers and typically try to avoid them”.

Beth says, “I love researching places and as such I typically do all the research—including for how to get to the airport, transportation within the country, visa requirements, etc.”

They both look at accommodation options together though Beth says, “Johnny seems to be much pickier about where we stay than I am”.

With transport both within and between places Beth says “I guess I do the research for this in my initial trip research, although often we just figure this out on arrival together.”

In regards to packing “Johnny tosses everything he needs into a bag last second if I don’t lay it all out for us!”

With visas and passports, Beth says, “I usually have more visa restrictions than Johnny does, so I typically deal with this aspect of planning”.

Concerning foreign currency, “Although we typically just do this at the airport—sometimes we’ll order it ahead of time”

Beth says that paying bills and organizing subsequent all of this “is Johnny’s responsibly in general, so he continues to do it when traveling.”

Beth is ”a huge fan of culture and experiencing festivals around the world, so this is certainly my area!”

Both Beth and Johnny equally plan activities to ensure “we’re both happy on the trip!”

As the travel blogger, Beth one deals with all emails and correspondences.
