Take a Dhow Boat Dinner Trip in Dubai on the Al Mansour Dhow Cruise Dubai
About Deira Creek
Contents
Historically, Deira Creek divided the city of Dubai into two main sections – Deira and Bur Dubai. Dhows were used for the purposes of fishing and trading in Deira Creek and were integral to the commercial development of Dubai. Traditional wooden dhows are still used as water taxis for the people of the city. Called abra taxis you can get one and the boatmen will take you wherever you want along the creek.
Another very pleasant way to experience the creek and see all of the different activities taking place on the water and the foreshores is to take a dinner cruise. Read about the top things to do in modern Dubai, and the top things to do in Old Dubai.
Dhow Cruise in Dubai
Selecting an after dark dinner cruise from the myriad of dhow operators is difficult. All of the dhows offer something a little different, but it is worth going with a known entity as we did on the Al Mansour Dhow Cruise Dubai. This is the signature dining venue of Radisson Blu Dubai Deira Creek, a luxury hotel located in this historic area of Dubai. With total creek frontage and an affinity with both the old and the new in Dubai, this is a well-organized dinner cruise.
About The Al Mansour Dhow
The Al Mansour Dhow is a beautiful rustic wooden Dhow that has twinkling lights along its length. It is moored on Deira Creek outside of the hotel. The Al Mansour Dhow was once a cargo ship that sailed between Dubai and India. It is different from the other dhows because of its distinctive mast. It looks exactly what you would want to see in this Arabian area, with beautiful vintage wooden features and brightly coloured soft furnishings. The fairy lights and oriental rugs give you a real sense of being in the middle east.
You are greeted on the dock and walk along a red carpet, up some wooden steps to the upper deck where you get a beautiful view of the creek. You have a choice to dine either upstairs in the open air or downstairs in air-conditioned comfort. In reality, you can do both as we did.
We enjoyed our welcome drinks upstairs, and we admired the dhow and then went downstairs for our Arabic and Indian buffet dinner. We then adjourned back to the upper deck to have coffee and enjoy the water lapping at the sides as we went up and down the creek.
The Food on Board the Al Mansour Dhow
Suffice to say that Al Mansour Dhow recently hosted a culinary journey of Celebrity generic cialis net Chefs during the Dubai Food Festival. Emirati food was featured as it was on our cruise.
Here you can indulge all of your senses with the best Arabic and Indian foods. There were curries, salads, meats, and plenty of options for vegetarians. Vegans are catered for if you give the staff at Radisson Blu some notice. The desserts menu is vast and the chef on board our cruise was very happy that we sampled some of the very spicy and sweet desserts that he had made. One was like a sweet porridge with cardoman and cloves and a touch of rose water. It was amazing.
Service and Entertainment
The staff were friendly and highly attentive. Not only were we very well looked after, but they had time to talk to us and tell us what we saw along the way. It was pleasant to have a traditional Oud player add to the ambience of the evening.
What we saw on our Dhow Dinner Cruise.
We passed the Gold Souk and the Spice Souk of Dubai. We could see Burj Khalifa glistening in the skyline, being the tallest building in Dubai and the world. We passed many other dhows, some of them the water taxis packed with people and past many luxury yachts as well as other dinner dhows. The creek is bustling, and it is fun to watch the activity as you dine.
Radisson Blu Dubai Deira Creek is a very well run and attentive luxury hotel and the Al Mansour Dhow Dinner Cruise has the same high degree of attention to pleasing the customer. It was an excellent and pleasant way to see this very historic area of Dubai.

The dhow is huge I am used to seeing smaller ones along the Kenyan coast. The food looks delicious.
This is the 1st dhow we have seen, but there were lots of smaller ones along the creek.
This looks like a lovely way to get a different view of Dubai and the food looks awesome.
