Climb or Walk The Sydney Harbour Bridge

As one of the most iconic sites in Sydney, the Coathanger as locals know it; can be seen from many parts of the city. A fun activity is to do the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb, where you climb over this stunning bridge. This affords you magnificent views of the city and the harbour. For those not into heights, a free and fun activity is to walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and this is a free activity.

 

Explore The Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House sits on Bennelong Point and is world renowned for the architecture, which was designed to look like sails on the harbour. The site was originally a fort, named after Governor Macquarie, and was later used as a tram shed. Now it is a premier music and arts venue, and one of the most visited places in Sydney. Positioned on Sydney Harbour, and next to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and it is not difficult to see why Australia and Sydney have been recognized as hot spot travel destination. An amazing afternoon is to sit at the The Sydney Opera House Bar, drinking champagne as the sun sets over the harbour.

 

Get up close & personal with the animals at Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo is located on the northern side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and easily accessed by public transport. Arriving via a Sydney ferry is definitely fun as get a glimpse into the zoo from the water. At Taronga Zoo Sydney you will see many Australian animals including koalas, kangaroos and the cassowary, as well as animals from all around the world. A fun activity at Taronga Zoo is Roar and Snore, here you can do an overnight sleep with the animals, and then watch them being fed in the morning

Take the iconic Manly Ferry

Taking the Manly Ferry is a perfect way to see the stunning Sydney Harbour, and it affords an amazing picture of one of the world’s most beautiful cities if not the most beautiful city. The Manly ferry is not a special ferry for tourists but a working ferry that commuters and people visiting the city use as their form of transportation. You catch the ferry from Circular Quay, Wharf 3, where you can purchase the very inexpensive tickets for this 30-minute trip to Manly Cove. Make sure to arrive early for the Manly Ferry so that you can spend time wandering around Circular Quay and enjoying the street performers and artists.

The ferry takes you to the beachside suburb of Manly, and on the way, you will sail under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, past the Sydney Opera House and many other famous places like Government House at Kirribilli and Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair. You will also pass across The Heads, the opening of Sydney Harbour to the sea.

 

Visit the beachside suburb of Manly and Manly Beach

Manly is “seven miles from Sydney, a thousand miles from care.” It is less crowded than the iconic Bondi Beach, and you can enjoy some fantastic seafood at Manly’s main strip the Corso. There are also many markets to explore. If you are feeling adventurous, you can walk 19km from Manly to Taronga Zoo.

Whale watching is definitely one of the 7 Fun Activities to do in Sydney

Whale watching season starts in the middle of May. You can go whale watching from May to November in Sydney, as the whales start their annual mass migration from the freezing waters of the Antarctic to the warmer waters of the upper east coast of Australia. An estimated 15,500 whales make the 2,500+km long journey, so it is worth booking a whale-watching cruise in Sydney to see this spectacle. You can also see the whales when they are on their way back to the cold waters in April and May.

You just have to visit Bondi Beach

It is de-riguer to visit the iconic Bondi Beach. For visitors staying in the city, you can get to the beach by catching a train ride from Town Hall to Bondi Junction, which takes 11 minutes. You then can get a bus (380, 381, 382 or 333) to reach Bondi Beach. It is not worth taking a car as the price to park your car if you can even find a car spot are outrageous. Also remember when visiting any beach in Sydney and Australia is that the sun is strong, so always make sure you have a hat and sunscreen and water.
